Our Material: Linen - MAISON SAYAG

Our MATERIAL: LINEN

We have chosen quality. Producing quality clothing was the key to creating our brand. This is achieved through the choice of material. We opted to select one of the finest linens, grown in Belgium, treated, spun, woven, and finished by a Belgian company renowned for its high standards of quality.

Belgium, along with France and the Netherlands, is one of the world's largest flax producers, together accounting for 85% of global production. We have chosen to source our linen from this region of excellence, ensuring exceptional quality.

THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS

01

The Harvest

Once harvested, the flax is retted to extract its fiber. Selecting the finest fibers is an important step in achieving quality.

02

The Selection

The plant is examined, sorted, and selected to obtain the most uniform yarn possible. It is time for scutching (extraction of the fiber) and combing (transformation of the coarse fiber into coarse yarn).

03

The Spinning Mill

The longest fibers are reserved for the finest yarns. Spinning is the art of blending fibers to produce a yarn of equal color, quality, and consistency, according to the desired metric number.

04

Weaving

The next steps are winding, then fabric manufacturing (weaving), and finally quality control of the raw fabric. Then comes the passage through the shearing room to remove the last impurities.

05

The Ennoblement

Then comes the finishing process (washing, bleaching, dyeing and finishing). The fabric is finished to highlight its special qualities and natural patina.

06

Quality Control

The final step is to check the fabric, the consistency of the color, and its feel. The house we selected has mastered all of these steps.

THE MAKING

The garment is made in a family workshop near Florence, which is sensitive to the quality of the material we have selected and which ensures the required level of quality of manufacture and finishing in order to offer you a garment that you will keep for a long time.

Each piece is crafted with artisanal expertise passed down from generation to generation. The selected workshop shares our vision of excellence and respect for the noble material of linen.
