A story woven from memories
In the summer of 1999, our mother created "Des Petits Hauts" with our aunt. We weren't even born yet! Yet, our history with textiles is intimately linked to our mother's entrepreneurial adventure. In the excitement of this new adventure, she took us everywhere with her.
Our mother often incorporated us into her daily life and the world of her brand. She would even place us in our cribs at the foot of her desk, immersed in the creative atmosphere. The fabric swatches, scattered sketches, and lively conversations with her colleagues and sister unconsciously shaped our sensitivity to detail.
In the evening, when she comes home, our mother tells us about her day. Her stories of creation, choice of materials, perfect finishes, and quality have resonated with us forever. Without knowing it, she sowed the seeds of this new adventure. We grew up absorbing every color, every texture, every detail that transforms a simple garment into an exceptional piece.
Then came those magical summers in the South. This sacred summer rendezvous for us: in the first days of July, we leave Paris for the Giens Peninsula. The house then comes alive with laughter, conversations that last late into the night, and childhood friends who come to share our table.
But it's at sea that the magic truly happens. The boat becomes our playground for daily adventures. These impromptu lunches in small coves inaccessible except by sea remain among our most precious memories.
When evening comes, it's always the same excitement: we sail towards Langoustiers Beach. Our father then looks for the best spot to bring us closer to the beach, ready to jump overboard. These moments, etched in our memories: the golden light of the setting sun, our linen trousers carefully rolled up to our knees, we move forward happily in our half-buttoned linen shirts, guided by the protective and proud gaze of our parents.
"You're beautiful like this," our mother tells us every summer, adjusting our collars before getting off the boat. These small gestures of attention taught us the importance of detail, of finishing, of that indefinable something that makes all the difference.
She has always had this passion for dressing our father and the three of us in these linen ensembles that make up our summer wardrobe. It's our uniform for sunny days, on the boat at the Giens Peninsula, as well as during our dinners at "Playa de San Juan" in Spain, or on the beaches of the Tobago Cays.
It's in the carefree nature of these moments that we capture the appeal of the look that follows us from boat to table. These shirts that embody our father's elegance, this careful simplicity, this casual chic, this subtle art of balance—that's what we wanted to capture.
When we decided to create Maison Sayag, these memories came flooding back. Discussions flowed, often late into the night, sometimes heated but always passionate. We wanted to recapture that special feeling of linen against the skin, that relaxed drape, that lightness that breathes. Our mother had passed on to us much more than a taste for beautiful clothes; she had given us a vision, an art of living that we wanted to share.
And so our quest began. Not just for a brand, but for a continuing story, a legacy we wear proudly, like the linen shirts and trousers that have accompanied our fondest memories and, today, embody the soul of Maison Sayag.
The Birth of Maison Sayag
Six precious moments
The Beginnings
The first step was to go to the Alliance du Lin, Place des Victoires in Paris, to select the House that would supply us with the material.
Selection of Material
We have selected two linen references from among many possibilities, one for the trousers (200g/m2) and one for our shirts (160g/m2).
Design
We collaborated with a stylist to design our shirts and pants with perfect cuts and a minimalist style.
Patronage
Three technical drawings and three measurement charts later, we headed to Anne's workshop to create our patterns.
Prototypes
Finally, the time has come to create the first prototypes. We meet Jacques and Veronica, who will be making our first samples.
Production
Development of our first collection within an Italian family business created by two brothers – 3 generations.
